$1M Fire Guts Popular Elkton Pizza Restaurant Now Closed Indefinitely
Mario’s Pizza in Elkton was forced to close indefinitely while repairs are completed after a devastating two-alarm fire caused an estimated $1 million in damage, according to officials.

Just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, firefighters hurried to 42 Beauchamp Road after a fire broke out in the kitchen of the popular pizzeria, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
When a nearby employee noticed the fire, it swiftly spread, necessitating a two-alarm response from the Singerly Fire Company and other agencies.
According to officials, it took about 75 firemen 20 minutes to contain the fire.
According to fire investigators, the facility sustained $600,000 in structural damage and an additional $400,000 in lost contents, but no injuries were reported.
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, the restaurant had smoke alarms but no sprinkler system or fire alarm. The cause of the fire is still being looked into.
The owners posted the following in a Facebook statement:
Sadly, there was a terrible fire at Mario’s Pizza tonight. We anticipate a protracted recuperation. We are grateful for all of your prayers and support.
Until significant repairs can be performed, the restaurant will be closed forever.
As responders used ladder trucks to control the fire, a stunning image of firemen fighting flames that were escaping through the roof above the restaurant and nearby Cherry Hill Liquors was released online.
The community has shown overwhelming support for Mario’s Pizza, a longtime Elkton mainstay, after learning of its indefinite closure.
