25 People Rescued After Boat Runs Aground Near Eustasia Island

After a boat ran aground in the Connecticut River close to Eustasia Island, leaving 25 people trapped, emergency personnel executed a significant late-night rescue.

On Saturday night, June 21, firefighters assisted in the rescue of twenty-five individuals near Eustasia Island when their boat ran aground.

First responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, following reports of a vessel that had gone aground with multiple individuals on board, according to the Deep River Fire Department. Several marine units were launched to help by Essex, Deep River, and Chester fire department crews.

Together, emergency personnel managed to safely remove all 25 individuals off the ship. Everybody was examined for injuries.

Fortunately, authorities reported that no one was gravely injured.

Investigations are underway to determine what caused the grounding. No additional information was released by the police.
