Bear Sighting Near Elementary School In Peekskill Prompts Police Response

A bear was spotted close to the grounds of a Northern Westchester elementary school, prompting police to respond.

On Thursday, June 26, a black bear was spotted close to Peekskill’s Woodside Elementary School.

According to Lt. Adam Renwick of the Peekskill Police Department, the animal was seen close to Woodside Elementary School in Peekskill on Thursday, June 26 at approximately 12:30 p.m.

According to responding officers, the bear was last seen going into the surrounding woods, according to Renwick.
