William Mathues Charged With Strangling Nurse At Home: DA

Prosecutors said Friday, June 27, that a West Chester man strangled his at-home caregiver after a vicious assault inside a Lancaster County home around two in the morning.

A scrub nurse.

The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office claims that early on Monday, January 29, 64-year-old William Mathues accosted the nurse at his home on the first block of Mount Hope Road in East Drumore Township, Pennsylvania.

After a preliminary hearing, prosecutors stated that Mathues attacked her when she got home at around two in the morning. According to the victim’s testimony, he strangled her. He touched my throat with his thumb.

The victim claimed that she continues to experience health problems as a result of the assault, such as breathing and swallowing difficulties.

When Trooper Kyle Schlitz, the investigating Pennsylvania State Police trooper, arrived on the scene, he testified that the nurse was frightened and anxious and spoke in a raspy voice.

Mathues is accused of:

  • Strangulation.
  • Simple Assault.
  • Harassment.

Shane Brackup, the assistant district attorney, contended in court that Mathues touched a lady and asked that all charges be transferred to the Court of Common Pleas. On Sunday, June 16, Judge William Mankin granted the request.

Until they are proven guilty in a court of law, all defendants are presumed innocent.
