On Saturday, June 7, Trevor Vollmer, a recent Pequea Valley High School graduate, was struck by a bus while out for a stroll with friends. His family has called the incident a “heartbreaking accident.”

“An energetic and athletic young man,” Vollmer had been bouncing a ball while out walking, according to a GoFundMe set up by Christine Huntzberry, a family acquaintance.

He automatically went to get it when it suddenly bounced into the bus lane. He was hit at that point.

He was seriously hurt.

According to Huntzberry and his father Joe Vollmer’s original campaign post, Trevor received rapid medical attention until paramedics came because to the prompt efforts of his friends and neighboring people.

After initially being taken to a nearby hospital, he was later moved to a trauma center that was more prepared to manage the extent of his injuries.

Vollmer was transferred to a cutting-edge rehabilitation center as of Thursday, June 26, and according to his family, he is improving every day.

Vollmer’s family thanked the community for its overwhelming support in a series of public updates posted on the GoFundMe website.

Huntzberry wrote in a statement on June 16 that all decisions are made with his best interests in mind.

That same week, Vollmer—who is regarded by his closest friends and family as being kind and funny—offered a quotation that his family made public: Why not make someone smile?

According to Huntzberry, “that reminder has truly lifted our spirits.” A small act of kindness has a big impact.

Shirl A. Vollmer’s family praised the public for their unwavering love, prayers, and support in a third update, which stated that Vollmer was still getting better in rehab.

Vollmer had been getting ready to go to West Chester University in the autumn after graduating from Pequea Valley this spring.

He was a multisport athlete who, according to Lancaster Online, won a spot on the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Four Second Team All-Star baseball team in 2025 after hitting.339 with 21 hits, 18 runs, and 11 walks.

He was selected as an honorable mention defensive back by the L-L Section Five Quarterback Club in the fall.

During Senior Week, a customary celebration held after graduation, Vollmer was in Ocean City with friends.

Support has been shown from all throughout the area, including sincere condolences from Vollmer’s place of employment and beyond.

According to Pollinate+Pop, a local company where Trevor worked with his sister Ryan and friends Lincoln and Izzy, everyone who knows him adores him.

According to the company, he fills our lives with so much love, generosity, and light. To me, he is like another son.

Additionally, they declared a brief suspension of everyday activities to allow the team to focus on Trevor’s recuperation.

Support was also requested from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 845 in Downingtown, where Trevor’s father, Joe, is employed as a maintenance technician.

The VFW wrote, “Please share this post and let’s help one of our own during this difficult time.”
