Fugitive Charged In Triple Stabbing That Left 1 Critical In Phillipsburg, Prosecutor Says

Three individuals were stabbed inside a nearby home last Saturday, and investigators claimed that a 35-year-old man who was wanted in Phillipsburg was charged with attempted murder.

When officers arrived at the residence on Brainard Street at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, in response to a stabbing incident, they stopped Marquis W. Pierce, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to investigators, Pierce was arrested at the location where two stab wound victims were discovered. According to investigators, one victim suffered potentially fatal injuries, and a third was eventually located and brought to the hospital for medical attention.

According to officials, everyone engaged in the incident knew one another. Additionally, Pierce had an outstanding warrant from Easton, Pennsylvania.

A complaint warrant included the following charges against Pierce:

  • attempted homicide (1st degree)
  • aggravated assault (1 count, 2nd degree)
  • aggravated assault (2 counts, 3rd degree)
  • unlawful possession of a weapon (3rd and 4th degrees)
  • fugitive from justice (warrant out of Easton, PA)

According to officials, Pierce is being detained at the Warren County Correctional Center. According to the NJ Courts website, his previous charges include possession of restricted hazardous substances, such as marijuana and analog narcotics, and several instances of simple assault from 2010 to 2023.

In addition, he faces charges of defiant trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and refusal to appear in court. Other charges include reckless driving, abandoning a vehicle, and a number of motor vehicle violations, including speeding, driving with a fake license plate, and careless driving.

Throughout his case history, many warrants have been issued and subsequently rescinded in a number of municipalities, including Phillipsburg, Pohatcong, Hackettstown, New Brunswick, Greenwich, and Mansfield.
