Valentine s Day Murder Over Child Visit Leads To Life Sentence For Prince Frederick Man

A Maryland man was given a life sentence after fatally stabbing the father of his girlfriend’s child during a visitation argument.

Harris, Thomas Eugene II

Prosecutors in Calvert County said Thursday that Thomas Eugene Harris II, 28, of Prince Frederick, will be imprisoned for the rest of his life for the 2024 murder of Shaquille Quadry Braxton, 30.

Four months after Harris entered a guilty plea to first-degree premeditated murder, Judge Mark Chandlee sentenced him to life in prison on June 20.

Prosecutors claim that on February 15, 2024, Harris, who was seeing the child’s mother, pursued and repeatedly stabbed Braxton when he was en route to Prince Frederick to present a Valentine’s Day gift to his child.

Later, deputies discovered Braxton unconscious in a field close to Fairground Road. At the scene, he was declared dead.

Following the murder, Harris transported his girlfriend and the child to Prince George’s County, where he disposed of the weapon.

During the course of the inquiry, he finally turned himself in to Calvert County investigators.

Since the murder, Harris has been detained at the Calvert County Detention Center without being released on bond.
