Man Robbed Dover Deli At Gunpoint: Prosecutor

Authorities said Tuesday, July 1, that a 27-year-old male from Wharton had been detained and charged with robbing a Dover deli at gunpoint.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Dover Police Chief Jonathan Delaney said that at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, Dover police were called to Valencia Delicatessen on Richards Avenue after an employee reported that a man in a mask, later identified as Dwayne Brown, had entered the deli, approached a customer at the counter, and grabbed his arm while pointing a handgun at him.

According to investigators, Brown then demanded money from the two workers behind the register while brandishing the handgun. According to investigators, Brown left the deli after the staff gave him $360. According to investigators, Brown left the area in a car but was taken into custody the following day.

According to investigators, he faces three counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a pistol, and unlawful possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
