Stolen Acura Riding On Hot Plates Leads To Arrests Of Two NYC Men In Teaneck: Police
Two guys from New York were taken into custody in Teaneck after authorities said they were spotted attempting to sell a luxury vehicle that had been stolen from New York City and was using Connecticut-sourced license plates.

On Friday, June 27, at around 12:30 p.m., Teaneck Police Chief Andrew R. McGurr stopped Zyon M. Maynard, 20, of Brooklyn, and Michael J. Mendez, 29, of Glendale, close to Frank W. Burr Boulevard.
Two different cars, each carrying two people, had been stopped by officers. Police claimed it was soon established that one of them, a 2023 Acura TLX, had been stolen from New York City. Additionally, a Connecticut license plate that had been reported stolen was on the vehicle.
Officers found that Mendez and Maynard were collaborating to fence the stolen car after conducting an investigation at the scene, according to the police.
Mendez was accused of:
- Conspiracy to Commit Fencing of Stolen Property
- Two counts of Receiving Stolen Property
Maynard was accused of:
- Conspiracy to Commit Fencing of Stolen Property
They towed and seized the Acura. After being identified, the other two males at the scene were let go.
According to authorities, Mendez and Maynard were both arrested without incident, processed, and released pending a court appearance.
