Radio Monitoring Leads To Rescue From Overturned Jet Ski In LI Sound: Police

At 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, Nassau County police reported that three people had been rescued from the Long Island Sound after their jet ski capsized close to Bayville.

According to a department release, Marine 11 of the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau was keeping an eye on VHF radio frequencies when they heard that the watercraft had capsized, leaving all of its occupants in the ocean.

Upon their prompt arrival, Marine 11 and the Town of Oyster Bay Constables located the three people and the overturned jet ski. They were safely brought back to the boat from which they had departed by the personnel.

According to police, there were no reported injuries.
