Sebastien Castin Charged In West Hempstead DWI Bike Crash

On July 6, Nassau County police reported that a drunk motorist had hit a bike in West Hempstead and taken off.

Officers from the Fifth Precinct said that at approximately 3:17 a.m., Sebastien Castin, 23, of Lakeview, struck a 49-year-old male who was riding a bicycle north on Woodfield Road close to Coventry Road North.

After suffering severe injuries, the man was taken to a neighboring hospital, where his condition is now reported as stable.

According to police, Castin was apprehended without incident after being found close to the crash site.

He is accused of:

• Felony Vehicular Assault.
• Misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated.
• Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury.

On Monday, July 7, he will be formally arraigned in First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
