One more pilot. One more intercept. Donald Trump’s golf club on the Fourth of July weekend caused NORAD yet another headache.
The interception over New Jersey scene.

A civilian plane breached restricted airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey, where the president and first wife spent the holiday, for the second time this weekend.
Around 2:39 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, a NORAD fighter jet stopped a civilian plane that was breaching restricted airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey, according to officials. Unauthorized entry into a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) zone was made by the pilot. According to NORAD, its plane safely led the plane out of the area after alerting the pilot with a headbutt maneuver. That day, five TFR infractions were registered, including the event.
Then, at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, military officials reported that NORAD fighter fighters were hurried to intercept another airliner that had breached the TFR. NORAD planes escorted it out of the region. You can watch the interception on video here.
Officials issued a severe warning to general aviation pilots after this weekend’s 11 violations of the Bedminster Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) were confirmed.
According to Gen. Gregory Guillot, Commander of NORAD and US Northern Command, the high number of TFR breaches this weekend suggests that some civil aviators are not reading Notice to Airmen, or NOTAMs, prior to every flight as mandated by the FAA.
Trump is expected to leave for Washington, DC, on Sunday night, July 6, at 5:00 p.m., after arriving at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4.
Pilots are expected to reply on emergency frequencies 121.5 or 243.0 and reverse course until further instructions are given, according to NORAD, which stated that fighter jets and helicopters may be employed to intercept unlawful aircraft.
According to Gen. Guillot, NORAD and the FAA work to maintain safe skies over America, paying particular attention to regions subject to Temporary Flight Restrictions to protect flight safety, national security, and the president’s safety.
Before flying anywhere near Bedminster, pilots are encouraged to review FAA NOTAMs 1353, 1358, 2246, and 2247. Failure to comply may result in federal investigation, license suspension, or civil penalties.
