Ritchie Shelson, a user on X, shared video from the waterfront a few minutes later, writing: After an unusual view, people started running and caused a stampede in just sixty seconds. I’m glad everyone was safe.

On the internet, some people reported being hurt.

Posting on X, Emily Kruger said that a woman next to her broke her leg after being stomped and that she needed six stitches. “There are no news reports on many others,” she stated.

On a Jersey City police radio broadcast, another Reddit user, flying6speed, claimed to have heard a report of a potential active shooter, but that it was later ruled out. “Hopefully, it was only a false alarm,” they wrote. Additionally, the user detailed how police would mount sidewalks in order to bypass traffic.

Officers in tactical gear responded swiftly, according to HudPost. Authorities in Jersey City have not confirmed any arrests, injuries, or an official cause as of Sunday.
