Senior Watching TV When Car Crashes Into Uniondale Apartment (

An uncontrollably driven vehicle crashed into a Long Island senior living center, sending an elderly occupant to the hospital.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, the spectacular collision occurred in Uniondale at Park Gardens on Uniondale Avenue.

Preliminary radio transmission indicated that a car crashed through an external wall and straight into one of the flats, where an elderly resident was seated on the couch and watching TV.

For treatment, the resident was brought to a nearby hospital. Their status was not immediately known.

John Scalesi Jr. posted pictures of the substantial structural damage he saw on Facebook.

Nassau County Police, the Uniondale Fire Department, and the municipal building department all arrived on the scene and are currently assessing the extent of the damage.

As of the time of publication, authorities had not yet disclosed the cause of the collision or if the driver will be charged.

The Nassau County Traffic Management Center warned drivers to anticipate delays on Uniondale Avenue close to Summer Avenue.
