Residents Escape Blaze That Ripped Through Attic In Walden
Early on Sunday morning, July 6, a fire started in the attic of a house in Orange County, but all residents were able to evacuate safely, according to authorities.
In Walden, the attic of 454 St. Andrews Road was where the fire started.
According to the Walden Fire Department, the fire broke out at 454 St. Andrews Rd. in the village of Walden at approximately 5:56 a.m.
Heavy smoke was streaming from the attic windows on two sides of the house when fire officials arrived, two minutes after the initial call. According to officials, every inhabitant had already left the building.
Within 20 minutes, crews had completely searched the house after putting out the fire with two handlines.
Numerous agencies, including the Orange Lake, Coldenham, and City of Newburgh Fire Departments; Orange County Cars 12 and 4; the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps and Police Department; the Orange County Fire Investigation Team and Sheriff’s Office; the Town of Montgomery Building Department; and the Red Cross, were thanked by the Walden Fire Department for their assistance in the response.
