Lyadell Sutherland Charged In Violent Elmont Attack

After choking a lady and hurting two police officers and a medic during a violent arrest on Long Island, a 31-year-old man is being charged with several crimes, according to the police.

The Nassau County Police Department reports that the incident occurred in Elmont on Monday, July 7, at approximately 1 p.m.

After receiving allegations of a disturbance, officers arrived at a residence on Locustwood Boulevard. When they got there, they were told that Lyadell Sutherland and a 22-year-old lady had gotten into a heated verbal altercation.

According to the results of an inquiry, Sutherland repeatedly hit the lady before snatching her by the neck and applied pressure that made it hard for her to breathe, according to the police. The victim was able to escape the house out of fear for her life.

According to police, Sutherland got aggressive and belligerent as authorities tried to arrest him, hurting two officers as well as a Nassau County Police medic. For treatment, all three were brought to a nearby hospital.

Additionally, the person was admitted to the hospital for assessment and care.

According to authorities, the victim had an active order of protection against Sutherland at the time of the assault.

Sutherland was accused of seven offenses, including unlawful obstruction of respiration and assault.
