Vondee, Godson

According to the Prince William County Police Department, Godson Vondee, 42, of Stafford, was taken into custody on Tuesday, July 9, after an internal investigation into many unlawful database searches and surveillance practices.

According to investigators, Vondee obtained the man’s personally identifiable information five times, once in 2023 and four more times in 2024, using the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN).

According to the police, he was on duty at the time of each search and had no criminal justice justification for accessing the data.

According to authorities, the victim was a male who was acquainted with a woman connected to Vondee.

Additionally, the agency found that Vondee had visited the victim’s home multiple times over a period of 15 months.

According to authorities, Vondee was promptly removed of his police authority after the accusations were made public.

Through the Office of Professional Standards and its Criminal Investigations Division, the department initiated both administrative and criminal investigations.

Vondee was an officer with over six years of service at the time of his arrest.

Police Chief Peter Newsham of Prince William County remarked, “These actions are a betrayal of our oath of office and are not reflective of the values and professionalism expected of the members of this agency.” Our community’s trust is violated by such acts, and I expect those responsible to face consequences.

For illegally using a computer to gather identifying information, Vondee faces five counts of computer trespass and one count of stalking.

They’re holding him without a bond.

August 19 is the date of his upcoming court appearance.
