Investigators say a man in his 20s called Howard County Police, claiming a family member had stabbed him multiple times and had since left the scene.
Police later identified the stabbing victim as 26-year-old Samuel Louie Booker IV of Columbia. Following the attack, he was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
According to investigators, Booker called 911 again two minutes later, this time stating that he was armed and at the intersection of Oakland Mills Road and Carters Lane.
Multiple witnesses told the Maryland Independent Investigations Division (IID) that when cops arrived, they saw a man brandishing a big spear.
Investigators were informed by witnesses that the suspect came up to the officer and would not put down the gun. The cop shot him, and he was declared dead at the site.
The AG’s IID is still investigating the tragic officer-involved shooting.
