Abigail Smith Dies After Jumping From Moving Car: Coroner

On Wednesday, July 9, Pennsylvania State Police reported that a woman had died in Lehigh County after she had jumped from a moving car and struck the pavement.

On the 2300 block of Seipstown Road in Weisenberg Township, troopers reported that Abigail R. Smith, 24, of Upper Macungie Township, got out of the passenger side of a Subaru sedan while it was still moving.

On Monday, July 7, the crash happened at approximately 5:55 p.m., according to the PSP Fogelsville Criminal Investigation Unit.

According to officials, Smith hit the ground after exiting the car, which was being driven by a 33-year-old male and was heading east.

At 10:55 p.m. that same day, emergency medical personnel took her to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, where she was declared deceased.

According to an autopsy, blunt force head injuries was the cause of her death. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said the cause of death is yet unknown.

With help from the Coroner’s Office and Troop M Forensic Services Unit, the Fogelsville Criminal Investigation Unit is spearheading the investigation.
