Yogurt Products Pulled After Plastic Pieces Found

A popular yogurt brand is being recalled nationwide due to a potential choking hazard linked to plastic pieces in its topping containers.

The recall applies to all flavors and sizes of YoCrunch products currently on the market.

Danone North America has voluntarily recalled multiple flavors and sizes of YoCrunch products after consumer complaints revealed clear plastic pieces, some with sharp edges, in the dome toppers. The pieces, ranging from 7 to 25 millimeters in length, could cause choking if swallowed.

The issue affects only the toppers — the yogurt itself is not impacted, according to the company. The recall, initiated Friday, July 11, is being conducted in cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration.

Danone said retail partners are removing affected products from shelves while the issue is addressed.

The recall applies to all YoCrunch products currently on the market, including vanilla, strawberry, and specialty candy-topped flavors sold in single cups and multipacks. Full lot numbers and expiration dates have been published by the company.

Consumers are urged not to eat the products and to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. For questions, contact the YoCrunch Consumer Care Line at 1-877-344-4886, available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
