Don lived a life defined by faith, family and a sense of humor that touched everyone he met. A U.S. Army veteran, Don served his country for three years during the 1950s. After his military service, he began a distinguished career in the accounting department at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT, where he worked diligently for over 30 years.
A man of strong Catholic faith, Don was a devoted churchgoer who, with his wife Florence, rarely missed a weekly mass. He enjoyed his many friends in the church community. He was also a passionate sports fan and especially proud to be a lifelong supporter of the Boston Red Sox. Whether cheering on his team or watching a game with family, Don’s enthusiasm was infectious. He passed on his love of sports to his children, coaching their Little League teams and proudly cheering them on from the sidelines. His presence was a constant source of encouragement.
In retirement, Don embraced the joys of travel, close friendships, and time with family. He always enjoyed weekends in Newport and attending events, festivals and dinners out in Newport with his daughter Nancy Rosenberg and her family. He was an avid reader, a regular at his local library, and a lifelong learner who delighted in a good book and thoughtful conversation.
Don will be remembered for his deep devotion to his wife, and family, his warm spirit, and his endearing sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
