Jamie Harr was sentenced to 7 to 14 years in state prison, while Charles Harr received a 9- to 18-month jail sentence followed by probation, according to Judge Michael Stewart of the Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas.
The Derry Township couple had pleaded guilty in April to charges stemming from a September 2023 incident in which troopers were called to Wedges Court Drive for a child welfare check. A caller reported that Jamie Harr was hitting and threatening the 14-year-old, according to investigators.
Responding Pennsylvania State Police troopers observed serious injuries to the teen’s ear and other trauma. He was hospitalized for treatment, and Child and Youth Services was called to assist. The victim later disclosed to investigators that Jamie Harr physically assaulted him, and Charles Harr strangled him during the incident.
As a result, the boy sustained permanent disfigurement to his ear, prosecutors said.
The Harrs were charged in November 2023 with multiple offenses. Jamie Harr faced aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, and simple assault, while Charles Harr was charged with strangulation, endangering the welfare of children, and simple assault.
District Attorney Ziccarelli thanked Assistant District Attorney James Lazar for prosecuting the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
