Man Found Dead Outside Jersey City Building Prompts Homicide Investigation: Prosecutor

Authorities announced that a homicide investigation was launched after a man was discovered dead outside a Jersey City building on Friday morning.

According to a release from Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, officers were summoned to Neptune and Garfield avenues at approximately 9 a.m. on Friday, July 25, following reports of an injured individual.

The individual was eventually identified by police as Jersey City resident Joey Richburg, 56, who was discovered unconscious on Neptune Avenue. After being transported to Jersey City Medical Center, authorities claimed that at 9:42 a.m., he was declared dead.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined the cause or manner of death.

The Jersey City Police Department and Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation; no arrests have been made.
