According to DC Fire and EMS, a man was seriously injured after being ejected from his vehicle in a violent incident that closed the westbound lanes of I-695 on Saturday morning.
According to fire officials, the collision occurred on July 26 just before 10:20 a.m. close to Exit 2/M Street SE.
DC Fire and EMS verified that US Park Police Eagle 1 flew a male who had been ejected during the incident to a nearby trauma hospital.
According to an update from the agency, all lanes of 695 WB are shut. Please look for other routes.
Major Crash detectives were on the scene by 10:54 a.m., according to DC Police, and they had blocked access to westbound I-695 from both sides of I-295.
Instead, they advised drivers to utilize the Frederick Douglass Bridge or the 11th Street Bridge.
All westbound lanes were still blocked at noon, and there was no word on the victim’s condition.
