Multiple law enforcement organizations, including state police, firefighters, and dive teams, have converged in the Ramapo Lake region as part of a large search and rescue operation, officials announced on Saturday, July 26.

UPDATE: According to sources who spoke to Daily Voice, a body has been found on the Passaic County side that is thought to be that of a minor. The scenario is still evolving.
Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer did not reveal the nature of the search, but said detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office responded to help with the emergency endeavor, which is being lead by the New Jersey State Park Police.
Angermeyer called the region a “extremely large wooded area with a large body of water.”
Ramapo Mountain State Forest has the 120-acre artificial lake known as Ramapo Lake.
While local and county fire departments, dive teams, and police are working on the ground, the New Jersey State Police are providing aerial assistance via a helicopter, according to authorities.
Local communities have come together to provide coordinated support for the search, which is spanning both Bergen and Passaic counties.
While emergency personnel work, the Oakland Police Department and other agencies are attempting to maintain unobstructed entry ways into and out of the area.
Tragically, a car in Oakland killed a 4-year-old boy and gravely injured his 5-year-old brother earlier this week in the same location.
While the operation is underway, officials are asking the public to stay away from the area.
While emergency personnel are performing their duty, no more information is currently available, according to Angermeyer. Authorities in Passaic County and the New Jersey State Park Police may also provide updates.
