On Wednesday, August 13, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II stated that Congers resident Donovan Mais had entered a guilty plea to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
According to authorities, Mais was arrested after a drug bust on Saturday, March 22, when Spring Valley Police officers found him carrying gloves on North Madison Avenue at around 1:00 p.m.
According to the officers, he took the plastic canisters out of the gloves and dropped them in front of another man, who picked up the vials and put money on the ground.
According to the DA’s Office, Mais was caught in possession of 16 vials of crack cocaine and $75 in cash when cops stepped in. As police arrived, the other man allegedly threw three more vials—which lab tests likewise revealed contained cocaine—to the ground.
Judge Djinsad Desir, who guaranteed Mais six to seven years in jail, in-prison drug treatment, and three years of post-release monitoring, will sentence Mais in Rockland County Court on Tuesday, October 14.
