Authorities reported that a 35-year-old father from Stafford, Virginia, was taken into custody on the Delaware Memorial Bridge on Thursday, August 14, after he kidnapped his 5-year-old daughter from New York City.

According to Delaware River and Bay Authority officers, Luis Mota picked up his daughter from school without the mother’s permission and was on his way to his home in Virginia.

The DRBA stated that they were stationed on both sides of the southbound span to intercept the car following a report from the New York City Police Department.

According to officials, two DRBA police units located the suspect’s car, pursued it, and stopped it on the left shoulder just before the Delaware Memorial Bridge Toll Plaza. Other units also provided assistance. According to the authorities, Mota was apprehended without any problems and the youngster was safe. According to the authorities, the youngster was reunited with her mother.

According to authorities, Mota was charged with fleeing out of state. There are still ongoing charges from the NYPD.
