A prosecutor in Rhode Island is being investigated after police body camera footage showed her telling cops, “You’re going to regret this,” as she was being taken into custody.

Law enforcement said that on August 14, Devon Flanagan, a special assistant attorney general, was arrested by Newport police for trespassing outside a restaurant.

According to the department-provided body camera footage, Flanagan repeatedly asks an officer to turn off his camera before repeating, “I’m an AG.”

In the video, the officers can be seen asking a patron of the restaurant if they want to trespass. The individual replies, “Trespass, yeah,” while clasping his hands. Please cuff them.

The lawyer responds, “We’re not trespassing, you haven’t notified us that we’re trespassing,” when the officer accuses Flanagan and the people who are with her of trespassing.

Just what did I say to you? The cop, who cannot be named in the video, says, “You’re trespassing.”

I work as an AG. Later, Flanagan states, “I’m an AG.”

The officer says, “Good for you,” followed by a curse word.

After a while, Flanagan is placed in a patrol car and told, “Boy, you’re going to regret this.” You will come to regret it.

Flanagan has been employed by the state’s highest legal office for almost seven years, according to the Attorney General’s office, and is presently assigned to the appellate unit of the criminal division.

The attorney general’s office was investigating the event, according to a spokesman, who declined to comment further for personnel concerns.

In an interview with WPRO on Tuesday, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha stated that no disciplinary judgment had been taken but that Flanagan will take some action in response to the arrest, including apologizing to Newport police.

You see, she has put me in a difficult situation. According to Neronha, she has degraded herself, disgraced herself, and mistreated the Newport Police Department.

I have 110 attorneys. In a way, he said, she made them all feel ashamed.
