Avid Cornwall Photographer Injured In Head-On Crash, Now Fighting For Life

A well-known local photographer and historian who suffered critical injuries in a head-on collision with a suspected drunk driver has the support of the close-knit Orange County community.

Bob McCue is a historian, photographer, and railroad enthusiast.

According to a GoFundMe campaign started by close friend Lori Noller, Bob McCue of Cornwall was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center on Saturday, July 5, following his collision with another car.McCue’s injuries need surgery, and he now has a lengthy road to rehabilitation.

“Bob is an avid photographer, train enthusiast, and historian, as well as a published author who can often be seen roaming Cornwall taking photos at the river, the Moodna Viaduct, or any celebration our little town has,” Noller wrote at the event.

Additionally, McCue serves on the Woodbury Historical Society’s board.

The goal of the campaign is to assist McCue’s family in paying for household and medical costs while he recovers. All contributions will be sent straight to Loriann, his sister.

The campaign has raised almost $17,400 of its $24,000 target as of Monday, July 7. Dozens of community members have contributed and sent words of support.

“He is such a kind soul, he didn’t deserve this,” one friend, Jae N., commented on Facebook.

“Anyone who has enjoyed local railroading and history probably knows Bob McCue,” someone else said. I am one of the countless people who have found inspiration in him.

“He’s had two surgeries for a broken leg, and he had air out of his lung, so which means one of his lungs collapsed,” McCue’s sister said on social media on Sunday morning, July 6. He will be alright at Westchester Medical. will be alright, but he has a long journey ahead of him.
