After a fire started before dawn at Vanessa’s Corner Pub in Carroll County, which caused significant damage and prompted an ongoing investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, dozens of firefighters raced to the scene.

According to officials, the restaurant at 2600 Liberty Road was the scene of the fire just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1.

The marshal said that when firefighters from the Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS, Mt. Airy, Winfield, and numerous other local fire departments arrived, they saw a lot of smoke and flames inside the eatery.

Before putting out the fire, roughly fifty firefighters fought it for an hour.

K9 Blondie and a group of Deputy State Fire Marshals stayed on the scene all day Tuesday in an effort to identify the cause of the fire.

As of 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, no injuries had been recorded, and the overall cost of damage was still being assessed.

To evaluate the kitchen’s structural stability and product safety, inspectors from the Carroll County Health Department and the Carroll County Permits and Inspections office were also present.

Officials reported that both Liberty Road (Route 26) and Ridge Road (Route 27) were still accessible to motorists in spite of the damage.

The story is still evolving. For updates, check the Daily Voice.
