Chocolate Candy Products Pulled From Shelves Nationwide
Due to a labeling error that could seriously endanger certain consumers’ health, two chocolate items that are sold in retailers across the country have been recalled.
White Seeds (top) and Christmas Seeds are the semi-sweet, nonpareil chocolate goods that are being recalled.
The impacted products, semi-sweet chocolate nonpareils manufactured by the Weaver Nut Company of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, were sold at supermarkets and retail stores all over the United States. The well-known candy is being recalled in both white-seed and Christmas-colored varieties.
The issue? Some products have milk, a secret ingredient that isn’t listed on the label.
For those with milk allergies, who run the risk of experiencing severe or even fatal reactions, such omission could be harmful. To date, no illnesses have been reported.
The problem was discovered after a wholesale customer reported a shipment that did not match the most recent product specifications, the business said in an announcement. Later, laboratory tests verified that milk was present.
The following lot numbers are impacted:
204206, 204207, 204208, 204209, 204212, and 224225 are Christmas seeds.
204215, 224221, 224222, 224223, 135215, 135216, 135217, 135220, 135221, 145204, 145205-1, 145207-1, 145210-1, 204214-RL, 204214
Consumers who own the affected products are advised to return them for a complete refund and not to eat them. The customer care department of Weaver Nut Company may be reached at (717) 738-3781, extension 122.
