DWI Driver Flips Car, Wrecks 4 Parked Vehicles On Route 9W In Clarkstown: Cops

According to authorities, a 35-year-old male from Rockland County was detained for felony DWI following a violent collision that left his automobile inverted on the road and damaged many parked cars.

According to a police statement released on Saturday, June 21, the collision occurred earlier this week on South Route 9W close to Congers residence number 922.

A red Toyota Camry that had apparently driven into the opposite lane, corrected, and then collided with four parked automobiles before flipping and resting upright in the road was among the five damaged cars that the officers discovered when they arrived.

According to officials, the only person in the Camry was the driver, Stephen Kutcher of Congers. The crash was characterized by witnesses as abrupt and disorderly.

Kutcher was taken into custody at the site after officers noticed indications of intoxication, according to the police. For a medical assessment, he was also brought to a local hospital.

Kutcher was accused of three more infractions of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of New York, as well as Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Previous Conviction: Designated Offense Within 10 Years, a felony.

For approximately an hour, Route 9W was closed as emergency personnel evacuated the area.

Kutcher is expected to appear in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court later. He was released on appearance tickets.
