The Northampton County Coroner’s Office said on Tuesday, July 29, that a 57-year-old journeyman electrician passed away following a medical incident that occurred while he was doing electrical work outside of a house in Allen Township.

James S. Akins of Effort has been identified as the victim, according to Northampton County Coroner Zachary R. Lysek.

According to investigators, Akins passed out while doing ground-level electrical work outside a private home on Millrace Road. He was not on the roof when the incident occurred, officials explained.

The coroner determined that natural causes were the cause of death.

According to his social media accounts, Akins was a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 375 in Allentown and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He disclosed that he was married to Donna Akins but did not identify any schools or locations to show.

Lysek stated that no more details are being made public at this time.
