GoFundMe For Michael Fisher Following Sullivan County Crash

Two months before he is due to become a father, a guy from the Hudson Valley is fighting for his life following a horrific motorbike accident.

After a severe accident in Sullivan County on Sunday night, June 29, Michael Fisher is still in the intensive care unit (ICU) in a critical but stable condition, according to his sister Ashlee Kortright.

Fisher’s wife Marlena is seven months pregnant and is facing the unthinkable: getting ready to give birth while her husband lies in a hospital bed with serious injuries and an unclear future. Kortright said the timing couldn’t be more tragic.

This ought to be an exciting, hopeful, and loving moment. In a touching GoFundMe campaign started to assist the family with their escalating medical bills, Kortright wrote. Rather, it has abruptly turned into one of uncertainty and anxiety.

Fisher sustained several face fractures, head injuries, a perforated eardrum, edema, a hematoma, and other injuries in the collision. An intracranial brain monitor is in implanted to track the pressure in his skull while he is under close observation in the intensive care unit. Physicians predict a protracted recuperation that will involve months of healing, operations, and potential rehabilitation.

Marlena has lost both of her parents in the last year, which only makes the situation more tragic. According to Kortright, Fisher is her sole source of support, and she is currently juggling pregnancy, bereavement, and medical uncertainty.

“The financial strain is enormous, but our family is doing everything we can to help support him,” she added. Between growing medical costs, time away from work, and getting ready for a newborn, the financial and emotional toll is unbearable. His family and our family just cannot accomplish this on their own.

The campaign’s proceeds will be used for emergency surgery and intensive care unit care, prescription drugs, long-term rehabilitation, and continuing living expenses, she said.

We are aware that many people are going through difficult times, but even a small donation can make a big difference if you are able to contribute.
