Says
Following the lithium-ion batteries’ explosion and fire, which resulted in $20,000 in property damage, more than 33,000 wireless power banks are being recalled.
ESR recalled a power bank in August 2025.
On Thursday, August 14, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that about 24,000 ESR HaloLock power banks sold in the United States are impacted by the recall. In Canada, about 9,900 portable chargers were sold.
The recalled machines’ lithium-ion batteries have the potential to overheat and catch fire, posing a risk of burns and fires. Nine reports of the batteries bursting and setting fire have been sent to the distributor, Waymeet Limited, located in Hong Kong. The CPSC reports no injuries have been reported.
Model numbers 2G520, 2G505B, and 2G512B are affected. The gadgets have five circular LED lights on one side and the word “ESR” printed on the back. They come in dark blue, light blue, gray, white, and black colors.
The power banks were offered on the ESR, Home Depot, and Amazon websites. They sold for $32 to $40 between September 2023 and July 2025.
Owners should get in touch with Waymeet for a refund and cease using the recalled power banks right away. Customers will be required to send [email protected] an email with a picture of the model number with the words “Recalled” permanently inscribed on it.
Municipal hazardous waste programs must be used to dispose of the power banks. They shouldn’t be placed in curbside recycling bins or ordinary garbage cans.
