Fortnite Players Getting $126M In Refunds For Unwanted Charges, FTC Says

US gamers of Fortnite are receiving a new round of money, and they didn’t even need to win a battle royale to obtain it.

As part of a settlement with Fortnite’s developer, Epic Games, the FTC said that it will be returning over $126 million to gamers who were billed for in-game purchases they did not desire.

The FTC announced this week that 969,173 checks and PayPal transactions issued on June 25 and 26 are part of the most recent round of payments.

The FTC accused Epic of utilizing fraudulent tactics to lure gamers into purchasing products they didn’t desire, which led to a 2023 settlement in which the business agreed to pay $245 million.

The organization has now reimbursed Fortnite players close to $200 million in total.

The FTC previously mailed out 629,344 payments totaling over $72 million in December 2024.

There is still time for players who haven’t made a claim yet.

According to the FTC, the claims procedure is being reopened, and new submissions will be accepted through July 9th.

Players or their parents or guardians who have previously submitted a legitimate claim will receive their refunds. Customers choose PayPal or checks as their preferred payment methods.

According to officials, PayPal monies must be redeemed within 30 days and checks must be cashed within 90 days.

Furthermore, the FTC would never request payment or account information in order to process your refund.
