Christopher McGee Groomed, Raped Girl In Maryland: Officials
A Maryland man faces years in prison for having a continuous sexual contact with a young girl.
Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County
According to the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, Christopher Steven McGee, 35, of Gambrills, was convicted at trial of raping his 12-year-old victim after “cultivating an ongoing sexual relationship” with her.
In December 2023, authorities opened an investigation into allegations of child sex abuse between the girl, who was the stepfather of her boyfriend, and McGee, who was 34 at the time.
The inquiry showed a pattern of grooming and manipulation by the defendant to persuade the youngster to have a relationship with him, according to the prosecution.
Investigators gathered proof of the “relationship,” including a picture of him kissing the girl and “explicit social media communications,” according to officials.
Additionally, they discovered that the girl was in possession of a nude photograph of McGee.
Following the guilty decision, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess stated, “(McGee’s) behavior is both shocking and disturbing in how he manipulated a young vulnerable girl to believe that they were in love.”
“It is particularly concerning because he molested another 12-year old girl in Texas,” she said. It appears that his incarceration and registration as a sexual offender did not prevent him from committing further crimes.
“The State will be seeking a significant prison term at his sentencing.”
After a three-day bench trial, McGee was convicted of second-degree rape. In September, he is expected to be sentenced.
