Ground Beef Product Recalled In PA Due To Possible Presence Of Metal

A product made from ground beef that was shipped to five states is being taken off the market because it may contain metal.

After a customer complained about detecting metal in the goods, the problem was identified. There have been no reports of injuries.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said on Tuesday, July 29 that the Ada Valley Meat Company of Ada, Michigan, is recalling about 1,065 pounds of fully cooked, frozen ground beef that may contain metal fragments.

The product came in 20-pound cartons with four 5-pound bags of Ada Valley FULLY COOKED GROUND BEEF in each box. Produced on Wednesday, May 28 and Friday, May 30, it was distributed to wholesalers and businesses in Delaware, Pennsylvania, California, Illinois, and Michigan.

The USDA mark of inspection for the recalled meat includes the establishment number EST. 10031. FSIS cautioned that additional processing or redistribution may result in some cases having different establishment numbers.

It is advised that institutions that received the product refrain from serving it. The impacted cases ought to be returned or thrown away.
