Byron Boyd Busted With Guns, Crack Cocaine In Berks

Authorities said Wednesday, Aug. 20, that a Berks County man was taken into custody following a raid in Muhlenberg Township where they discovered hundreds of crack cocaine packets and many guns.

According to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office, Byron Boyd, 39, was charged following a joint investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Berks County Drug Task Force.

According to police, detectives started looking into Boyd in November 2024 after learning that he was selling drugs in the City of Reading and Muhlenberg Township. Magisterial District Judge Paul Leo granted a search order for his home and body.

On Wednesday, the warrant was executed at approximately six in the morning. Investigators reported that they found 242 crack cocaine packets, almost 15 grams of unpackaged crack cocaine, marijuana, 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, three cell phones, $890 in cash, and three handguns, including a stolen Smith & Wesson.380 and two Taurus G2C 9mm pistols.

Prosecutors assessed the cocaine’s street value to be around $4,000.

Boyd was arrested and processed in the Central Processing Center of the Berks County Sheriff’s Office, where he was fingerprinted and photographed. Authorities also stated that he is awaiting preliminary arraignment.

Boyd is accused of receiving stolen property, possessing crack cocaine, possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, possessing narcotics paraphernalia, and failing to possess guns.
