Iconic Tobey Maguire Spider-Man Suit From Raimi Trilogy Swings Into Auction For $100K+

Fans of Spider-Man, you should check your bank accounts. The real red-and-blue outfit that Tobey Maguire wore in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 is up for sale and is already selling for more than six figures.

According to the official description, Propstore Auction is selling the screen-used costume that Maguire wore in Sam Raimi’s popular trilogy. Bidding began at $50,000 and has already reached $100,000.

It may fetch up to $200,000 when the hammer falls on Thursday, September 4, according to auctioneers.

The suit is not merely a copy.

This is the real thing: the first movie to employ the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man costume that Propstore has ever sold, and it is thought to have seen a lot of action on set.

The item claims that it includes a lightweight internal helmet shell with replaceable eye lenses inside the mask, a spandex bodysuit, built-in boots, and a specially designed muscular undersuit marked for Maguire.

This suit, which was modified from the original Spider-Man design for Spider-Man 2, was made by Frontline Design under the direction of Oscar-winning costume designer James Acheson.

It has a more streamlined form, smaller eye lenses, a larger chest logo, and darker blue cloth.

According to the listing, it is embellished with red latex emblems and brittle foam latex webbing, some of which have been rebuilt using parts cast from the original molds.

The winner also receives a custom-fitted mannequin to appropriately display the suit.

As famous as the costume’s appearance is its history. Maguire wore it throughout Peter Parker’s existential crisis, power loss, and fight against mentor-turned-villain Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2, which is considered to be one of the greatest superhero films ever created.

In Spider-Man 3, which starred Venom, Sandman, and the New Goblin and made over $890 million worldwide, he donned it once more.

This is more than just a collectible for moviegoers who grew up watching Maguire scale New York towers; it’s a piece of cinematic history. To carry it home, however, superhuman money will be required.
