Tia Gardner Charged After Hitting Man Near LIE: Police

On Sunday, July 27, Suffolk County police said that a Long Island lady who was driving under the influence struck a person near the Long Island Expressway, causing significant injuries.

According to the announcement, the collision occurred on Medford’s Express Drive South close to Exit 64 shortly after 12:30 a.m.

According to police, Tia Gardner, 26, of Mastic, struck a guy who was trying to cross the street on foot while she was driving east in a 2024 Hyundai Kona.

The pedestrian was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with severe injuries; their identity has not yet been revealed pending notification of their next of kin.

Officers from the Highway Patrol and Sixth Precinct arrested Gardner on the spot after concluding she was intoxicated. She spent the night at the Sixth Precinct after being charged with Driving While Ability Impaired.

Her initial arraignment was set for Sunday, July 27 at Central Islip’s First District Court.
