Laurel resident Yariel M. Fuentes-Reyes, 19, was apprehended at his residence on Thursday, July 3, as part of a combined state and local law enforcement operation, according to Maryland State Police.

According to investigators, a Polymer 80 handgun without a serial number was found during the search warrant, which was carried out by the Maryland Car Rally Task Force, Philadelphia Police, and MSP’s Special Tactical Assault Team Element (STATE).

Fuentes-Reyes was brought to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center for processing after being charged with two misdemeanors in Maryland, including possessing a handgun by a child.

According to authorities, the takedown is part of an ongoing investigation into the large-scale, illegal car procession that occupied Philadelphia streets during Super Bowl LVIII earlier this year.

According to officials, Fuentes-Reyes will be extradited to Pennsylvania, where he will be charged with several felonies and misdemeanors related to the chaos during the protest.

According to a spokeswoman, the Maryland automobile Rally Task Force will keep up its crackdown on careless, unapproved automobile parades that endanger public safety. MSP and several law enforcement organizations from central Maryland are part of the task team.
