After receiving a lightning strike report from CoreLogic, firefighters were dispatched to the 1800 block of Rambling Ridge Lane in Pikesville to investigate a reported fire that started inside a nearby residence.
At 3:33 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Baltimore County, which was quickly followed by the occurrence.
The Baltimore County Fire Department claims that they were able to verify that the collision took place precisely at 1803 Rambling Ridge Lane.
Investigators confirmed that about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, firefighters arrived to find flames piercing the roof.
Due to the ferocity of the incident, first-arriving units promptly requested a second alarm after discovering strong fire through the roof, which brought more fire and emergency medical professionals to the scene.
More than 100 first responders arrived at the scene after a third alarm was triggered owing to the heat and humidity caused by the blazing sun.
A portion of the roof and an inside stairway collapsed as firefighters fought to contain the fire. After receiving brief medical attention at the hospital, two firefighters were eventually released.
Several animals were saved from the flaming house. There were no other recorded injuries.
