Attorney General Dave Sunday said Tuesday, July 8, that a man from Western Pennsylvania is accused of attempting to rape a child after bringing condoms, candy, and money to a scheduled meeting with a person he thought was a 12-year-old girl.

Lane When he made arrangements to pay for sexual contact, Alan Simpson, 40, of Pitcairn, believed he was speaking with the girl’s mother, according to the prosecution. However, it was an undercover agent from the Child Predator Section of the Office of Attorney General.

According to police, Simpson agreed to pay cash and went to meet the youngster with the prearranged sum, condoms, and some chocolates he believed she would enjoy.

At the meeting location, he was arrested and charged with:

  • Felony Unlawful Contact With a Minor.
  • Felony Criminal Attempt to Commit Rape of a Child.
  • Related Offenses.

According to the statement, a magistratal district judge heard his preliminary arraignment and denied bail because he believed he posed a threat to the community.

The matter will be prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Angela Raver. Simpson is still being held. Until proven guilty, all defendants are assumed innocent.
