Mohammadsadegh Kiani Drowns At Walton Lake In Monroe
On Saturday, August 16, New York State Police reported that a 36-year-old Long Island man had perished after falling from a paddleboard at Walton Lake in Orange County.

Investigators found that Plainview resident Mohammadsadegh Kiani had gone to the Town of Monroe to hang out with friends for the day.
According to troopers, Kiani lost his balance and collapsed at approximately 3:50 p.m. while seated by himself on a yellow inflatable paddle board 40 feet offshore in water that was 6 to 7 feet deep. He started to struggle in the water and didn’t come up again.
Kiani was rescued from the water by a number of customers from the American Legion Post, which is across the street from the lake. They started saving lives right away until state police and emergency medical personnel could get there.
After being taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in serious condition, Kiani was declared dead in spite of intensive resuscitation.
No foul play was suspected, and it was decided that the drowning was an accident.
The Town of Chester Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance to state police at the scene.
