At Dulles International Airport, a 70-year-old Egyptian traveler kicked a US Customs and Border Protection beagle that detected more than 100 pounds of prohibited food in his suitcase, leading to his expulsion from the nation, according to federal officials.

He was given time off, told to cover the dog’s vet bills, and deported right away.
On Tuesday, authorities were notified of Marie’s baggage by CBP beagle Freddie, a 5-year-old, 25-pound agriculture detecting dog.
According to CBP, Marie kicked Freddie hard enough to pull him off the ground as an officer started questioning him.
Marie was instantly handcuffed and tackled by officers. After being brought to a veterinarian, Freddie was found to have contusions in his right rib cage.
Marie was attempting to import 55 pounds of meat, 44 pounds of rice, 15 pounds of eggplant, cucumbers, bell peppers, and other produce—all prohibited by US agriculture regulations—according to officials who conducted a baggage search.
All of it was seized by CBP authorities.
According to CBP Area Port Director Christine Waugh, being discovered willfully smuggling well over a hundred pounds of illegal and restricted agricultural products does not grant one the right to brutally attack a helpless Customs and Border Protection beagle.
At 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Marie was taken out of the nation and flown back to Egypt.
