Christy Rec Center Shooting Injures 2 Kids, Teen, Staff
Two children, a teenager, and a staff member were hurt in a shooting at the Christy Recreation Center pool on its first day of operation in West Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 30, according to police.
According to police, two children, a teenager, and a staff member were shot when gunfire broke out at Christy Rec Center on the day the pool opened.

According to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, the shooting started at approximately 4 p.m. near the pool area on South 56th and Christian Streets.
After being grazed by bullets, an 11-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where their conditions are stable.
After initially being transported to HUP Cedar, a 16-year-old boy sustained critical injuries and is currently being treated at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Investigators say a recreation center employee who was also grazed is likely to recover.
A previous altercation at the recreation center may have been the cause of the shooting, according to Commissioner Bethel.
According to Mayor Cherelle Parker, the violence started just after the pool reopened.
