Raymond Moreau Died From Blunt Force Trauma, Autopsy Shows
Regarding the death of a Connecticut fireman who lost his life fighting a house fire over the weekend, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has made its conclusions public.
Raymond “Ray” Moreau, a US Marine and Plainville firefighter, passed away on Sunday, July 27, as a result of injuries he sustained during a home fire.
The autopsy report, which was made public on Monday, July 28, states that Raymond “Ray” Moreau, 60, of Plainville, died from blunt force trauma to his head, neck, body, and limbs.
As firefighters battled a fire at 45 Maria Road in Plainville on Sunday morning, Moreau was killed when a piece of equipment dropped from a firefighting gear and struck him.
Moreau, a U.S. Marine and 35-year Plainville Fire Department veteran, died on the operating table at the Hospital of Central Connecticut while medical personnel tried to heal his wounds.
His death is being looked into by the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Agency and Connecticut State Police.
On Tuesday at 7 p.m., officials will remember Moreau with a memorial service at Plainville High School’s Tinty Stadium.
Governor Ned Lamont has directed all state government buildings to fly their flags at half-staff in remembrance of Moreau’s sacrifice.
