Rudolph, Lawrence
Lori Milliron is incarcerated for 17 years for perjury and accessory to murder. One documentary series on Hulu that tells their story is called “The Trophy Wife.” Milliron maintains that neither she nor Rudolph are guilty.
According to federal prosecutors, Lori Milliron, 67, was found guilty of accessory after the fact in the murder of Bianca Rudolph, who was shot in the chest by her husband, Larry Rudolph, on October 11, 2016, while on a hunting expedition in Zambia.
Milliron insists she was not involved in the murder in the three-part Hulu series.
The Safari Killing
Larry and Bianca were big game hunters and had been married since 1982. Larry informed local police during the trip to Zambia that Bianca had unintentionally shot herself while carrying a 12-gauge shotgun. She passed away there.
Her remains was cremated two days after Zambian authorities ruled the death accidental.
But after other people voiced concerns, the FBI opened an inquiry. Subsequent forensic testing revealed that the shot was not self-inflicted and was discharged between two and three and a half feet distant.
The Money Trail
After it was discovered that Rudolph, 70, had taken $4.8 million from seven life insurance policies in the year after Bianca’s death, federal agents charged him with overseas murder and mail fraud.
According to reports, he and Milliron had been having an affair for twenty years. Larry was afraid of losing money if they split up, according to an acquaintance who told the FBI that Bianca, a devoted Catholic, refused to divorce him.
The Confession At Steak 44
At a pivotal point, a bartender at Phoenix’s Steak 44 testified that he heard Rudolph yelling at Milliron during a dispute:
“Now they’re saying I killed my f***ing wife for you,” Rudolph said. Jurors, however, didn’t believe it.
Rudolph is incarcerated at USP Terre Haute in Indiana for the rest of his life after being found guilty in August 2022.
Where They Are Now
Perjury, obstruction of justice, and accessory to murder were the charges Milliron was found guilty of. She is now serving at FCI Marianna in Florida for 17 years. Both are contesting their convictions, but they are no longer in communication.
Jurors stated in the documentary series that Rudolph’s own testimony was what ultimately led to his demise, not merely the facts.
