Good morning, Newport! 🗓️ Today is Friday, July 18, the 199th day of 2025. There are 166 days left in the year.

🚨 You need to know

DeBlois Gallery will mark four decades of bringing art to Newport County with its 41st Annual Members’ Show and Celebration, running August 2-31 at the cooperative’s Middletown location.

The month-long exhibition opens with a reception on Saturday, August 2, from 5-7 PM at the gallery’s 134 Aquidneck Avenue location. The celebration continues with Gallery Night on Thursday, August 14, also from 5-7 PM.

“Please join the members of DeBlois Gallery as we celebrate 41 years of providing art exhibits to the community of Newport County and beyond,” the gallery announced in its press release.

The non-profit cooperative of 16 artists will showcase a diverse range of new work, including 2D prints, oil paintings, acrylic pieces, and collage, as well as 3D sculptures in ceramics, cast paper, and assemblage.

Throughout the month, visitors can attend three artist demonstrations highlighting different techniques and mediums. Wildlife photographer Michael Day will demonstrate his craft on Saturday, August 9, from 2-4 PM. Lisa May Tobin will showcase cast paper sculpture techniques on Sunday, August 10, from 2-4 PM. Nick Williams will close out the demonstration series on August 23, from 2-4 PM, showing how to use epoxy to add three-dimensional elements to paintings.

Beyond the annual members’ show, DeBlois Gallery sponsors non-juried open shows yearly and themed exhibitions on timely subjects. The gallery also hosts the annual Aquidneck Island High School Art Show, featuring work by local high school art students.

DeBlois Gallery is open 1-5 PM Wednesday through Sunday and offers ample free parking. The gallery maintains an active social media presence on Instagram (@debloisgallery) and Facebook (DeBlois Gallery1), where visitors can find specific dates, times, and featured artists for upcoming events.
